MY STORY
A licensed professional here to guide and support you in your journey.
I have worked in the community sector in various positions for many years now. I started out in case management through a large relationship service in Sydney whilst studying Counselling. Upon graduating and whilst building a house I worked for a time in a role counselling children in a Domestic Violence Refuge. My family then had a sea change from the city to beautiful Port Macquarie and I have worked with a large well known relationship service in the role as a counsellor ever since.

The work that I am most familiar with and comfortable in is family therapy, relationship support, trauma, mental health and working with children. I have a specific passion for the work I do with children and adolescents and hope that at the very least, I can give them a space to talk about their struggles, feel heard and offer some ways to manage whatever is going on for them.

Over the years, I have gained a world of knowledge from professional development, and from my peers who have shared their wisdom which I value greatly. Within my scope of learning I am trained in facilitating groups and am a qualified child consultant - giving children a much needed voice in a family separation.

I am trained in narrative therapy, solution focused therapy, emotion focused therapy, family systems therapy, EFT (Tapping) and various other modalities. I believe I am what's called an "eclectic" style therapist meaning I use bits and pieces to fit with what works best for the clients. In my experience it needs to be an individual experience for everyone not a "one size fits all" approach.

In the past 5 years I have worked with both the Royal Commission into child sexual abuse in institutions and the more recent National Redress scheme. In doing so, I like to think I have become very skilled in working with trauma including PTSD. This work has been such a journey and is very close to my heart.

In my opinion the best Counsellors have also had their own struggles and life experience of ups and downs. I feel that my own experiences have only increased my empathy and understanding for the clients I have the honour of working with.

One of the most important things in working together in therapy is the therapeutic relationship. In other words are you connecting with me and am I the right Counsellor for you... I'd like to have the opportunity to see if we "fit" so feel free to call and have a short chat about your needs and we can see if Holistic Healing Counselling might be for you and if not perhaps I can guide you to another possible option.

Life can get difficult, and sometimes a little help from a professional family Counsellor can make things better. I care about your well-being, and can provide you with some of the tools you need, in order to seize the day and learn how to tackle even the most difficult circumstances.
